IHG Signing For 8 New Hotels Across Thailand

InterContinental Hotels Group has signed in a partnership with Thai real estate company Ratanakorn Asset, which will lead to the hotel group, responsible for holiday inn suites in Rayong, opening between 2018 and 2027. The properties will be located in key destinations in the country, like Pattay Rayong, Phuket, Khao Lak and Koh Samui.

The signing will add at least 2,000 guestrooms, including new-builds and conversions across several brands; Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Staybridge Suites. The new projects, which will increase the company’s portfolio in Thailand, which is currently sitting at 26 hotels, aligns with the Thai government’s recent investment initiative.

President of Ratanakorn Asset, Niti Ruangratanakorn, says that the company recognized that the Thai Government’s new Eastern Economic Corridor project would be able to fuel growth in many industries in the country, including tourism. For that reason, they took a strategic approach at selecting, not only the location of the developments but the hotel brand that they would partner with in order to bolster their hospitality portfolio here in Thailand.

The first holiday to open as per the partnership will be the Holiday Inn Express Pattay Koh Larn, which is scheduled to open later in 2018. This property will be converted from the current Sealay Resort Koh Lam at Tawean Beach, near the Bangkok Hospital Koh Larn Clinic and the Na Ban public pier.

The remaining seven hotels will open as new-build properties over the span of 10 years. The beachfront Holiday Inn Resort Pattaya Na Jomtine will be opening near the Cartoon Network Waterpark. That property will be followed by the Kingdom’s second Staybridge Suites; the Staybridge Suites North Pattaya, in Wong Amat, to follow the first one back in December 2017.

There’ll also be more holiday inn suites in Rayong, with the opening of the Holiday Inn Resort Rayong on the Mae Rum Pueng Beach near the U-Tapao International Airport. Soon after that, the Holiday Inn Resort Khao Cape Pakarang will open near the Phuket International Airport, at the Khao Lak’s city centre Bang Nieng.

Another Holiday Inn Express will also be opening in Phuket, near Kata Beach; the Holiday Inn Express Phuket Kata. This new property will be opening near several eateries, shopping areas and entertainment centres. The last opening to open via the projects will be the Holiday Inn Express Samui Chaweng, near Chaweng Beach.
