Experts Give Us Reasons Why Every Website Needs Responsive Design

Web design has become more innovative now that mobile devices are taking over. In fact, the use of these devices have greatly increased in the last few years and last 2014, it has even surpassed the use of desktops. People now prefer to access the internet using mobile devices like smartphones and tablets.

But the problem is, websites do not always provide a great user experience for mobile users and this has led to the creation of mobile websites that can be considered impractical from a business perspective. This is why, new ways are being developed to adapt to these changes, particularly with mobile devices. Websites can now be optimized for mobile use thanks to responsive design.
During a meet-up with the people at www.perth-web-design.com.au, they had shared with us reasons why responsive design should be integrated into today’s websites.

One Website Use

Sometimes, businesses cope with mobile device popularity by creating a mobile website which is similar to the original but specifically meant for mobile users. This could sometimes lead with problems on search engines wherein you would have to inform them which website should be ranked. Responsive design will allow your website to make adjustments depending on the size of the screen of the device being used to access it. This would ultimately eliminate the need for two separate websites.

SEO Prefers Responsive Design

When it comes to search engine optimization; search engines like Google are known to favor responsive design more than mobile sites. This is because mobile sites would need to use a separate URL. When you create mobile sites, you would have to use rel canonical tags so that Google would know which page of the site they can account in the rankings.

Responsive Design is Great for User Experience

Responsive design will help users get great surfing experience because they would be able to easily navigate through the website and also find items much quicker. This is important because when users have a positive experience, they would more likely stay in your website for a longer period of time whereas bad experience would prompt them to leave immediately.

Canadian Internet Use Is Highest In The World According To comScore

Canadians have once again taken the crown of the biggest internet addicts. According to comScore, more than any other nationalities in the world, Canadians visit the most sites and spends the most time online.

In a study conducted by comScore on Canadian online habits last 2014; smartphones are the most commonly used online platform to access the internet. In fact, 49% of the time spent online is through a mobile platform. When the study was conducted, Canadians were only ranked second but now that they’re back on the top, another internet use can be added to the online fix and that is none other than video watching.

Calculating the average number of sites that Canadians visit with help from metrics that observe monthly site visits, it can be said that Canadians visit an average of 80 sites a month and spends about 36.6 hours online monthly.

If you would compare it with other nationalities you would find that Americans spends about 35.2 hours online a month while Italians spends 33.5 hours. Britons come in fourth with 33 hours of internet use.
Canadians have led the list a couple of times but in the last 2 years, they have only placed 2nd. This year however, it would seem that Canadians are busier more than ever as their online lives become an important aspect of living. Once Canadians are online, it has been observed that they tend to linger for a little longer on sites than most people do.

Since mobile devices are dominating the online sphere you would wonder why they are so popular these days.
Smartphones in particular can be used in a lot of different ways like instant messaging, games and social media. In fact, mobile users take up most of social media sites like Twitter and Snapchat. They use the internet to listen to music. The same goes with iPads and Tablets.

But another popular use of the internet that has gotten Canadians is video streaming. Canadians spend 5.1 more hours than Americans and 73% of them said that they have online video accessibility while only 64% of Americans enjoy the same.
