When ASOS Was Ridiculed Due To Its Men’s Crop Tops

The summer wardrobe of most women is dominated by short cropped top and high-waisted shorts. This combo is so effortlessly cool and easy to wear. If you cannot wear shorts because it is a professional event, match the crop top with a midi skirt and strappy heels. You can never go wrong with a collection of cropped tops that you can wear day after day.

The cropped top is summer’s hottest trend and this season, ASOS is bringing crop tops for men. ASOS, an online retailer in the United Kingdom is offering crop tops and tube tops for men including a pair of tops that people mocked in Twitter.

Mike, a Twitter user saw 2 tops from Reclaimed Vintage brand. He made a screengrab and tweeted “I give up.” The bandeau in black and the extreme cropped top with long sleeves cost £15 or about $19. After Mike’s initial tweet, social media users started ridiculing the shirt. One Twitter user commented that the two shirts look like they can be combined to make one shirt.

Another person tweeted that it is a new way to charge twice for the same top. Just cut it into two. Someone else added that it looks like an IKEA clothing where you put them together by yourself. A woman said that she will not be happy if her significant other wears the cropped top for men. Another woman replied to ASOS that if she starts seeing men in cropped tops, she’s done. She included screenshots of the retailer’s cropped tops for men.

On the other hand, a social media user commented that men have been wearing cropped tops in pop culture. She included pictures of men in crop tops like Carl Weathers as Apollo Creed in “Rocky III” and Will Smith in “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.” Men were already wearing crop tops in the 80’s and it was totally okay.

Many women look good in short cropped top but sometimes, people tend to be conservative. Wearing a cropped top requires confidence to pull it off and a slim and well toned body. If you can’t wear a 2-piece swimsuit, forget about the cropped top.
