Even The Rich And Powerful Wear Hoodies And Jeans And They Get Away With It

A hoodie is a sweatshirt with a hood and a drawstring that adjusts the hood opening. Many people use hoodies with a university logo for casual wear. Some hoodies designs have been inspired by the phenomenal show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

Even rich and powerful men wear rumpled jeans, boring t-shirts and sneakers when they make public appearances. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and T-Mobile Chief John Legere are not draped in expensive suits and accessories but dress in casual outfits. They certainly get away with non-conforming behavior and they do not fear the loss of their status because they have more than enough to spare.

For example, in one experiment Quartz conducted, a Harvard Business Law professor taught in class wearing a pair of red sneakers which is not the usual thing to do in a distinguished scenario. Investigators also examined shop assistants working at luxury boutiques in Milan and how they perceive customers that were poorly dressed.

According to the investigation of Quartz, there are three conditions where individuals will likely be perceived as rich even if they are wearing hoodies and sweatpants.

• The participant must be well acquainted with social norms in a specific environment. This will ensure that shop assistants at expensive boutiques will perceive a customer to be rich in spite of the gym clothes against an elderly well dressed woman.

• Non-conformity can be perceived as intentional with the individual deliberately choosing his attire because he is confident about his bank account.

• Being unique goes hand in hand with high status. This is best exemplified by the professor wearing red sneakers as someone from a higher class in spite of the oddity.

It is ironic but it seems that consumers who favor expensive brands in order to look rich do not actually look rich. Pedestrians would likely assume a well dressed elderly woman is wealthy compared to a poorly dressed individual because they are not capable of discerning status. So next time you meet an individual wearing hoodies and crumpled pants, it does not mean he does not have the money to buy high end clothing.

Wearing Black Ribbons To Protest SC/ST Demotion

Ribbons are not only tied on trees, fences and posts; they are sometimes worn on clothing as a show of support or as a sign of protest. While the primary objective of ribbons is for beauty, it is now being used as a symbol for various causes.

In Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, India, SC/ST employees are asked to wear black ribbons for the next few days as a sign of protest. Employees and officials that belong to the SC/ST category are facing the threats of demotion following UP government’s order with a Supreme Court ruling. Employees have found a unique way of protesting by refusing to vacate their rooms if demanded by the department.

The Arakshan Bacaho Sangharsh Samiti, and association of SC/ST employees estimates that there are at least 2 lakh officers and employees who will be reverted from their existing positions in case the government order will be applied by the irrigation department. On March 30, the irrigation department has issued an order that scrapes quota in promotion as per the Supreme Court ruling that was passed in 2012. The order meant that all SC/ST employees that were elevated after Mayawati government in 2007 introduced quota in promotions will be demoted.

According to samiti convener KB Ram, the government order will not have a financial effect on the officers so that there is no reason why they should vacate the rooms they occupy as senior officers. These officials have been given better and more convenient rooms during Mayawati’s government when the quota for promotions was implemented.

Ram said that the government failed to carry out a group-wide survey before it implemented the harsh decision that will bring down the seniority of dalit officers in one stroke. Aside from wearing black ribbons, officers of the categories affected are being geared up for mass agitation when necessary. Ram did not rule out the possibility of stopping crucial official work. This can be a cause of worry for the government given the number of SC/ST employees who are presently enjoying a high position due to the consequential seniority.

With over several decades of experience in the industry, Aveling Homes is a booming company that gives exceptional services to its clients.

In the last three years, there has been a significant increase of parents helping their children in buying their first homes. Parents assist them in terms of financial contributions. A mortgage broker said that parents who have the capacity to help their children financially are either giving their children cash or act as a guarantor in their children’s loan.

A real estate agent, Mark Passmore, noted that most of his young clients receive help from their parents in deciding which house to buy. These guardians are not necessarily wealthy. They are parents who are showing genuine concern for the financial future of their children. In some instances though, there are some young people who asked their parents to stay out of their dealings because they want to transact everything on their own.

Talking about buying your first property at a very young age, Dorinda Reid was only 12 years old when she got her first real estate lesson from her father. Mr. Reid decided to buy his daughter a house and lot which he plans to give to his daughter when she is mature enough to take care of the property.

Mr. Reid said that it was his first real property investment. He will use the experience to learn along with his daughter. He spent around $389,000 on the property investment. The house had three bedrooms and two bathroom located at Eglinton. Mr. Reid hopes that by the time his daughter turns 17, she will be mature enough to take active role in managing the estate. He plans to rent out the property to tenants until Dorinda turns 17 and then pass on to her the responsibilities of managing the house.

Free Tutoring Offered At NV Libraries Can Help Solve Problem With Crowded Classrooms

One of the biggest problems with schools today are crowded classrooms. With a classroom that has exceeded the intended number of students; the students inside it will not be able to receive the proper education that they need. Because of this, their parents are more likely to turn to tutoring services offered by companies like Bee Academic Tutoring to help their children keep up and learn.
But in Sahara West Library, the people there would seem to have found a more economical approach: free tutorial services.

Valeria Marchalonis, the head of the Children’s Services Department of the library, said that there are many individuals who are offering in-person and online tutoring services that are free of charge.

According to her, the volunteers would be able to cover any subjects that are offered from kindergarten to fifth grade which would be including math, science, reading, social sciences and many others. Marchalonis is recommending those who wish to seek a tutorial with complete subject offerings to try out brainfuse.com.

She says that brainfuse.com is an online tutorial service that offers students with live, one-on-one tutoring. It is absolutely free for anyone who has a library card. Math and science tend to be the subjects wherein students seek help the most.

Truly, tutoring has become more convenient and relevant nowadays because the rising population and the budget cuts are greatly affecting the educational system. Students go to school to learn but learning can become very difficult if you are in a crowded environment.

Nevada is only one of the many places around the U.S. where class sizes have ballooned due to the Great Recession and the budget cuts that were made to cope with it. Marchalonis said that the students are not the only ones affected; teachers too are facing difficulty in using their time differently.

She says that teachers are struggling with managing the classrooms and with the free tutorials they are offering, they will be able to further help the students because they can get into the heart of a problem or the area where the student is struggling with.

Did Reality TV Cause The Decline Of Soap Operas?

Soap operas used to lord it over television until the introduction of reality shows in the likes of Real Housewives of Orange County, Big Brother and Survivor. TV viewers became interested on the luxurious lives of some wealthy women and they closely anticipated the final results of competitions.

Soap operas first emerged on American radio in the early 1930’s at the start of the Great Depression. It arguably started from Painted Dreams which was about the life of an Irish-American widow Mother Moynihan, her family and circle of friends.
Soap operas then were the most powerful advertising mediums and it was best described by James Thurber in 1948 as a kind of sandwich where between the thick slices of advertising were 12 minutes of dialogue. To add some spice to soap operas were predicament, villainy and female suffering with a dash of nobility, sprinkle of tears and organ music.

It took the best part of 35 years for soap opera to migrate to the UK. The first was BBC’s 1954 offering The Grove Family which was a clear response to the imminent arrival of television. Viewing episodes of the soap opera was rather strange experience because of the Home Counties accent that was definitely lower-middle-class.

When Coronation Street arrived six years later through iTV the soaps were transformed into what they are today with characters speaking in their strong regional accents that were stereotyped as working class. In Germany, Lime Street was modeled to a certain extent after Coronation Street and it became the first European soap opera that appeared outside the British Isles.

The scene is relatively different now because in the course of the past 10 years, US daytime shows have finally bitten the dust. The longest running TV show Guiding Light came to an end in 2009 after 19,000 episodes.

There were many reasons for the decline of soap operas. Audiences are fragmented because of the presence of more TV channels. Reality TV emerged such as Big Brother and I’m a Celebrity which was cheaper because they were not scripted. On demand TV has also taken its toll particularly among younger audiences.
